Coastal Erosion in the Batinah
Much of the soft coastline of the Batinah is subject
to erosion, in some cases exacerbated by human activity/structures. This causes many environmental management
problems. These issues will be
addressed in a study consisting of (1) a literature survey (2) analysis of
satellite data to identify large scale patterns, (3) detailed field studies at
five sites, (4) modeling sediment transport based on some hydrodynamic
measurements and (5) proposal of some engineering solutions if appropriate. A
steering committee will include major interested parties.
